International universities are looking closely at India. They see the country as a huge talent pool and a prime spot for growth. Institutions from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia are already highly active here. Now, a major French institution is joining them. KEDGE Business School is officially starting its journey in India.

KEDGE ranks in the top 51 to 100 globally for its subjects. It also holds triple accreditation, placing it in the top one percent of business schools worldwide. They are taking a partnership route to enter the Indian education space. This move shows a big shift in how global education reaches students today.

For a long time, Indian students preferred countries like the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. They went there for higher education and better job prospects. However, this specific trend is changing. Rising tuition costs are a major factor. Strict visa rules also make it harder for students to move and stay abroad. Furthermore, global job markets are shifting rapidly. Because of these challenges, foreign universities want to build campuses directly in India. India’s higher education system is growing fast, and the demand for international degrees right at home is very high.

The corporate world is also going through massive changes. Global supply chains have faced many heavy disruptions recently. Because of this, companies are rethinking what they need from their leaders. Businesses want professionals who can handle sudden uncertainty. They need people to manage complicated supply networks safely. Workers must also adapt quickly to new technology, especially artificial intelligence. Business schools are changing their teaching methods to match this exact demand. They want to train leaders who are highly skilled and deeply flexible. These leaders must understand global systems and fast-growing economies perfectly.

French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited India. During this trip, KEDGE Business School shared exciting news. They announced a brand new partnership with Vijaybhoomi University in Mumbai. This partnership will offer top-tier management programs to Indian students. The collaboration marks a fresh chapter in education ties between India and France. During the talks, President Macron and Prime Minister Narendra Modi focused heavily on education. They set a clear and ambitious goal together. They want to increase the number of Indian students studying in France. The target is to jump from 10,000 students to 30,000 students soon.

Alexandre de Navailles is the Director General and CEO of KEDGE. He explained the core reasons behind this major expansion. He noted that India is moving incredibly fast. He called it one of the fastest-moving countries in the world today. This rapid growth applies to business, culture, and education alike. Navailles also pointed out a demographic issue back in France. The number of high school students in France has peaked. Moving forward, fewer young people will enter higher education there. Therefore, universities must look for new opportunities abroad to keep growing their student volumes.

KEDGE chose a very specific plan for its Mumbai campus. They decided against opening a standalone campus on their own. Instead, they partnered directly with Vijaybhoomi University. Navailles said they took this approach because they do not fully know the Indian market yet. They respect the local culture and understand the challenges. Bringing an unknown French brand to India is difficult. While KEDGE is famous in France, it is not well-known in India yet. By working with a local partner, they can use existing resources. They can also rely on experienced Indian professors to teach the students effectively.

The partnership kicked off with a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. This specific program started last year. It mixes classroom learning in India with a great international option. After two years, students can choose to move to France. If they finish the program in India, they get a joint degree. If they go to France, they earn an international BBA degree directly from KEDGE. The French Ministry of Education fully accredits this global degree.

The first two years in India focus on basic business skills. Students also spend time learning the French language. The goal is to reach a solid B2 level in French. This ensures they feel completely comfortable when they move to France. KEDGE plans to expand its course list in the coming years. By September 2026, they will introduce two new Master of Science programs. One will focus heavily on supply chain management. The recent global disruptions make this a very popular and necessary field. The second master’s program will focus on sports management. An Executive MBA is also planned for the year 2027. More postgraduate courses will follow later.

Artificial intelligence is a huge part of the future workplace. KEDGE is adding AI directly into its daily curriculum. They treat AI as an important tool and a necessary core skill. Navailles said students can use AI for their daily work. However, they must explain exactly how they used it. They must also explain the final results of using these tools. Companies want managers who know how to use AI efficiently across marketing, finance, and human resources. But they also want people with strong human judgment. Critical thinking and cultural awareness remain highly important.

KEDGE offers strong career support to its students. Navailles mentioned that a large team helps students plan their career paths from day one. The school builds direct relationships with major businesses. They even sign partnerships with companies to help guarantee jobs for graduates. You cannot build these personal connections just through a computer screen. This focus on real-world employment is a massive benefit for all enrolled students.

The school’s overall expansion focuses heavily on the Global South. They already run successful programs in China, Senegal, and Ivory Coast. Now, India is their newest major focus. KEDGE is also building exchange pathways with top Indian institutes, including the IIMs and private universities.

Conclusion

The world of global education is shifting fast. Western universities are eager to establish a strong base in India. Issues like high costs and strict visas are changing how students think about studying abroad. Moving forward, easy access, affordability, and clear job prospects will completely determine where students choose to study. The arrival of KEDGE highlights exactly how international degrees are adapting to meet students where they are.
